A Northline building interior, lit and clear to the lot line

About Northline

Atlas canary — safe to delete

Northline Self Storage is a family business with six buildings between Brooklyn Park and Woodbury. No private-equity owner, no regional call center — just managers who live near the buildings they run and plow the lot before you wake up.

The original Zane Avenue building

How we got here

Forty units, one snowblower, and a phone that actually got answered.

In 2009 Dave and Marta Lindquist bought a half-empty warehouse on Zane Avenue because the storage place they'd used during their own move never picked up the phone. They cleaned it out over a winter, framed forty units, and handed out their cell number to every renter.

Sixteen years later that cell number still rings — it just forwards to whichever manager is closest. We've added five buildings since, and each one was bought or built because a neighborhood asked for it, not because a spreadsheet did.

One company, seventeen front doors

Every facility is run by the people who are at it. They know which units stay coolest in August, which drive lane is easiest with a trailer, and who moved in last week. Head office sets the terms — clear rates, month-to-month leases, no fee that turns up later — and then stays out of the way so the site team can answer your question the first time you ask it.

Why people pick us

One family, not a fund

Northline has never been sold. The people who set the prices are the people you'll meet in the office.

Managers who live nearby

Every manager lives within six miles of their facility. They know which aisle floods and which door sticks in January.

No fee theater

$0 admin fee, no deposit, no mandatory insurance. The number on the website is the number you pay.

Ten days' notice, always

Month-to-month means month-to-month. Tell us ten days out and we prorate what's left.

How we treat people

Our whole service philosophy fits on an index card.

  • Walk them to the unit

Nobody rents a size from a chart. We open three doors and let you decide in person.

  • Say the hard number first

Rate increases get a letter 45 days out with the reason written in plain English.

  • Never upsell in a crisis

If a 5x10 fits, we rent the 5x10 — even when the 10x10 is sitting empty.

  • Fix it the same day

    A stuck door or a dead light is a same-day call-out, not a ticket in a queue.

Buildings & security

What 'clean and secure' actually means here

Every Northline building runs the same checklist, whether it opened in 2009 or last spring.

  • Cameras on every aisleRecorded 24/7, retained 30 days, reviewed by the manager after any reported issue.
  • Individual gate codesYour code timestamps every entry and exit. Add or remove people yourself in the portal.
  • Daily walk-throughManagers walk every hallway each morning: lights, latches, leaks, litter.
  • Pest and humidity programQuarterly professional service plus humidity logging in all climate buildings.
  • Snow before sixLots and aprons are cleared before 6am gate open, every storm, no exceptions.
  • Lit to the lot lineLED coverage inside and out, with motion lighting in every interior corridor.

What renting looks like

  1. Pick a facility

Choose the site closest to home, work or the route between them.

  2. Choose a size

Use the size guide, or call and describe what you are storing.

  3. Reserve

Hold the unit online or over the phone — no deposit gymnastics.

  4. Sign the lease

Month-to-month, signed before you arrive or at the counter.

  5. Get your access code

Your code works at the gate from the day the lease starts.

  6. Move in

Back up to the door and unload. Stay a month or stay for years.

A Northline lot on a clear morning

In the neighborhood

Boring on purpose

Storage should be the least complicated part of a move. Our rates are the rates, the lease runs month to month, and the gate code works the day it is supposed to. When something does go wrong — a jammed door, a billing question, a unit that turned out too small — the person who can fix it is at the facility, not three transfers away.
